Elizabeth's final blog
I enjoyed getting to learn about a new culture, whether that's from our tour guide or the readings that we read about and then getting more insights from the places (tours) that we went to. There were definitely differences to what I hadn't expected like the cars being tiny and squares. It was definitely surprising especially since the US has a bunch of high and luxurious cars. There were many favorite memories to cherish and one of them that I would like to share is when we went to the sheep factory place. I loved learning about that and making cheese, how it needs to be certain way and warmed up from the milk I think. Drinking the remains felt so surreal and I could drink that and fall asleep afterwards. Going to the chapels and having our tour guide and Alessio talk about the engravings on the wall, telling us the backstory. The chapels, the monuments from the disasters, leaving them the way they were, and leaving it still in a religious way, tourists hot spots like the colosseum, or the bell tower. The readings taught me how Italians make their meals with olive oil instead of fatty fibers, and etc. I am now going to take that and make my meals with any of the olive oils in the food. I love that create the dishes in a 4 course meals but I also do miss the way that I consume food too. I also admired that drinking at dinner wasn't used in a "bad" way but there to create a passion and thoughtfulness. Like it wasn't fun and games.
