Bridget's Pre-Departure Post

  I am particularly interested in learning more about how the environment of Italy affects the development of the country. I was particularly taken aback by the reading that we had in class today,  as I had previously not thought about the way that the environment can affect a country, and I didn't realize that Italy was so divided economically and socially. I hope to see some volcanoes and observe the natural landscape, and see how the culture of Italy has been affected. I also hope to ask some of the people we meet about these topics. 

I have a deep interest in archaeology and art history, so I am quite excited to go to see archaeological sites (especially in Orvieto and Pompeii). I am interested in the Etruscans, so it will be fun to see museums and artifacts related to that civilization. I also hope to see renaissance art, and explore some art museums. I am planning to become a curator or exhibit designer for a museum after PLU, so I look forward to visiting all the museums I can. 

Finally, I am an animal lover, so I look forward to visiting a sheep farm and maybe getting to meet some donkeys when we do community work in the area around Fontecchio.
